History

The history of the establishment of an agricultural higher education institution in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) begins with the opening of the Faculty of Agriculture Yakut State University. On the basis of this faculty, in 1985 it was created Yakut Agricultural Institute, which in 1995 was transformed into Yakut State Agricultural Academy.


At the origins of higher agricultural education in the republic were people who became a worthy example for today's generation of teachers-A. I. Fedotov, Head of the Department of Therapy and Clinical Diagnostics, D. S. Shakhov, who taught histology, N. A. Barsukov, Head of the Department of Veterinary Medicine; associate Professors K. P. Mikhaltsov, Head of the Department of Physiology, V. A. Petrovskaya, Head of the Department of Feeding and Zoohygiena, S. N. Popov, Head of the Department of Zootechnics, etc.


In the memory of the graduates of the faculty, the pedagogical, scientific and social activities of teachers who invested their talent and soul in the formation and development of higher agricultural education in the republic are preserved. Among them are associate professors Ya. A. Afanasyev, Z. I. Bukovskaya, S. K. Dmitriev, V. V. Lebedev, M. V. Katkov, P. I. Kopeyko, A.D. Kurylyuk, E. G. Korneeva, S. N. Kuklin, P. A. Polyakov, T. V. Rumyantsev, N. F. Shchepalov, teachers E. N. Akimova, E. T. Larionova, N. V. Musienko, E. N. Tartakynova and others.


Organizers and heads of the faculty: its first dean, Associate Professor N. V. Kudryavtsev, associate professors K. P. Mikhaltsov, V. V. Lebedev, I. F. Varlamov, P. S. Drugin, A.D. Kurylyuk, V. S. Karpov, R. G. Iksanov put a lot of effort into training highly qualified specialists. In order to develop the system of higher agricultural education of the Yakut ASSR and improve the training of personnel for the agro-industrial complex of the Far Eastern Economic Region, the Yakut Agricultural Institute was opened on the basis of the Faculty of Agriculture of the Yakut State University by Decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR No. 592 of June 28, 1985. R. G. Iksanov was appointed the first rector. Subsequently, the rectors of the Institute were professors A. V. Chugunov and I. S. Chugunov. They left a significant mark in strengthening the material and technical base, increasing the scientific and pedagogical potential of YASHI, thereby laying the foundations for its current state. If in October 1957 there were two departments at the Faculty of Agriculture, and by the time the Yakut Agricultural Institute was opened there were five departments, at present there are 20 departments at the Yakut State Agricultural Academy. In the first years of the Faculty of Agriculture, there was 1 doctor and 8 candidates of sciences among the teaching staff; by the opening of the institute - 3 doctors, 23 candidates of sciences, today the Yakut State Agricultural Academy employs 189 teachers, including 35 doctors and professors, 95 candidates of sciences, 97 associate professors.


At the beginning of the Institute's functioning, 2 faculties were created: zooengineering and veterinary. Associate professors F. D. Petrov and M. Kh. Maltugueva were elected as their deans. In 1990, recruitment for the specialty "Economics and Management of the agro-industrial complex" was opened, and in 1991 the Faculty of Economics was established, which was headed by Associate Professor V. R. Darbasov.


From the walls of the Faculty of Agriculture, the Institute and the Academy came a galaxy of famous scientists and teachers: V. A. Bekenev, I. I. Bochkarev, L. N. Vladimirov, I. N. Vinokurov, V. R. Darbasov, N. Isakov, R. V. Ivanov, M. P. Neustroev, A. I. Pavlova, I. S. Reshetnikov, A.D. Reshetnikov, M. S. Savvinova, N. N. Sazonov, G. P. Serdtsev, E. S. Sleptsov, N. P. Tarabukina, I. S. Tretyakov, A.V. Chugunov. Many graduates of the university became candidates of science, honored workers of agriculture of the country and the republic.


In just 49 years, the Faculty of Agriculture, and then the Institute and the Academy produced 45 graduates of veterinarians, animal scientists, engineers, economists, accountants and lawyers who joined the agro-industrial sector of the republic. The staff of agrovuz is proud of its graduates who have shown high professional skills, who have become honored workers of the branches of the national economy of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Evdokia Sazonova, Nikifor Ivanov, Vasily Rufov, Peter Neustroev, Innokentiy Machakhtyrov, Alexandra Tsypandina, Mikhei Okoneshnikov, Yuri Ignatiev, Afanasy Borisov, Gennady Kuzmin, Nikolai Dmitriev, Ilya Osipov, Mikhail Sannikov, Dmitry Naumov, Alexander Yadreev and others. Hero of the Work V. M. Kladkin, P. P. S. Fedorova, D. F. Alekseev, V. A. Basov, V. A. Grigoriev, M. V. Muchin, M. N. Sibiryakov, I. S. Sivtsev, I V. V. Scriabin, V. N. Yaglovsky, A.M. Yagnyshev, D. A. Nottosov and other dozens and hundreds of specialists who are worthily fulfilling their high professional duty in the agricultural sector of our Northern Territory.


Yakut Agricultural Institute under the leadership of the Honored Worker of Education of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Professor I. S. Sivtsev has become an established, mature higher education institution in the country, on the basis of which it became possible to create an academy. By Decree of the President of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) M. E. Nikolaev No. 1150 dated September 7, 1995 and by Order of the State Committee for Higher Education of the Russian Federation No. 1572 dated November 17, 1995, the Yakut Agricultural Institute was granted the status of the Yakut State Agricultural Academy.


From 1997 to 2016, the university was headed by Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, Honored Scientist of Russia and the CIS (I), Deputy of the State Assembly (Il Tumen) Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) L. N. Vladimirov. For 14 years, the academy has developed traditions that unite teachers and students in one big family. We have formed a team of like-minded people who know how to live and work with talent. Careful treatment of the older generation ensures continuity in the transmission of professional skills. Veterans of pedagogical work are a living example for the younger generation, who are learning to be fluent in their profession and work effectively.


Candidate of Economic Sciences Ivan Sleptsov has been appointed Acting Rector since January 2016.


April 10, 2020The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation has signed an order granting the Yakut State Agricultural Academy the status of a university and renaming it the Arctic State Agrotechnological University. The change is related to broad training profiles, improving the quality of education, and developing research technologies.

General information

As of 2011, it is part of AGATU (ex. YAGSHA) includes 4 faculties, departments and a branch in the villageOktemtsy. The number of students enrolled with branches in 2011 is: - 5,909 people in higher professional education programs, including 2,687 full — time and 3,222 part — time students. - 181 people participated in postgraduate education programs, including 32 full — time students and 37 part-time students in postgraduate studies; 112 people were registered as applicants, 3 as doctoral students. The number of students enrolled in additional professional education programs (advanced training and professional training) was 750 people. The share of agricultural specialties is 71 %, economic — 22 %, humanitarian-5 %, processing of forest resources-1.2 %, environmental management-0.8 %.

Institute of Advanced Training and Retraining of Personnel of the Agricultural Complex of the RS (Ya)

The Institute conducts advanced training courses, retraining of personnel and seminars in the following areas::


Regulatory support for the activities of municipalities and agribusiness;

Restructuring and financial recovery of agricultural enterprises, business planning and management;

Organization and functioning of agricultural credit consumer cooperatives;

Sanitary and veterinary supervision. Monitoring and forecasting of epizootic situations;

Technology of production and processing of agricultural products;

Agribusiness engineering support;

Informatization and information and consulting support;

Organization of small forms of entrepreneurship;

Labor protection;

Farmer Training School;

School of horse breeders.

Students of the Institute are heads of municipalities of the RS (Ya), agricultural producers, specialists and employees of the agro-industrial complex, teachers of agro-specialized schools. Field courses are also organized at the request of uluses. The Institute has a basic regional center for training and testing knowledge on labor protection of agricultural specialists. Scientists of the YAGSHA, the Yakut Research Institute of Agriculture of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, chief specialists of ministries and departments of the republic are engaged in the educational process, consultants, scientists and practitioners from leading scientific, industrial institutions and enterprises of Russia are systematically invited. Practical classes are held on the basis of demonstration sites on herd horse breeding, cattle breeding, reindeer breeding, crop production, and mechanization.
